2K Recruits Apex Legends Developer to Rescue Challenged Action Game Ambitious Title

2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Leadership Transition Follows Lukewarm Response

Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at the development studio following the dismissal of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' lackluster early showing last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a more defined direction.

The president noted that the developers is now reimagining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

Trend of Key Recruitment

The news mirrors a comparable action taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise development group.

Here is the complete content from the president's memo:

Team—

I understand you all just completed your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Previously I shared you all a note, I mentioned the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that partnership to continue.”

Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the last year, you repeatedly show that.

The community feedback from last autumn’s the game testing phase was revealing. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had improvements to make. It revealed the necessity for a sharper brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to mind and revamped the title with a revitalized goal - one that’s poised to fulfill its promise to our audience.

The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To boost the incredible progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce Ben Brinkman as the new Director of the team. Following a period of talks, he starts with us on next week.

His guidance and experience in the PVP shooter space is vast, having spent the last 15 years creating and managing some of the most popular series in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, the battle royale hit.

Please join me in welcoming Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the progress of the game in the time to ahead.

David

Or go big, risk it all, and trust your team can achieve the highest spot? The decision is up to you."

The game does not have an confirmed debut schedule or consoles, but players can expect more updates as production continues.
