19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He rescued four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
